If My Home Had a Wish List…

Remember when you were a kid and the Sears and JC Penney Christmas wish books would come in the mail? You couldn’t wait for that magical moment when you could grab a marker and circle all the toys you so desperately wanted for Christmas. Living in Germany for most of my elementary school years meant I missed out on all the TV commercials showing the latest and greatest inventions, so those catalogs? Were my ONE opportunity to check out everything that Santa might POSSIBLY have in his workshop. (My poor mother had the Herculean task of trying to decipher what I truly wanted since I usually circled just about every single toy.)

Vintage Christmas Wish Books like this one sell for a pretty penny on eBay.

These days, I have a tendency to pitch most catalogs directly into the recycle bin, but there are a few exceptions. Crate & Barrel, CB2, and West Elm seem to be the ones that regularly catch my attention this time of year and I thought I’d share a few of the things that have made my wish list. (Don’t worry, though—I didn’t put everything in them on the list.)

Home Wish List Item #1

I love the fact that my little house has two full bathrooms, but the guest bath has absolutely nowhere to hang towels. Luckily, there’s a 2’x3′ ledge behind the tub that would fit this guy perfectly. (I just wish I had come across it before I hosted 17 people for Thanksgiving!)

Home Wish List Item #2

At 36″ square, this coffee table is the perfect size for a small sectional. Throw in the fact that it’s got additional storage and I’m in love. Think of all the board games that could fit in there!

Home Wish List Item #3

This one’s totally impractical, but absolutely dreamy. There’s just something about a navy blue velvet sofa that makes me want to swoon. (That Terreno Leather Chair in the front corner of the pic is pretty handsome, too.)

Home Wish List Item #4

My older daughter has this thing with garden gnomes… She hates them with a burning, fiery passion and thinks they should all be on the Naughty list. This little guy, though, is so cute and sparkly that it actually made it on her Nice list.

Home Wish List Item #5

Speaking of naughty and nice, I adore these solid brass paperweights. Perfect for keeping track of who’s on which list year-round!

The sparkly dwarf is a crack up. A while back I saw a mirrored mosaic LIFE SIZE HORSE in HomeGoods. Wish I’d kept that photo! 😀
